We the Cree of northern Quebec identify ourselves as the Eeyou of Eeyou Istchee—“People of the Land.” As we walk across our land, we celebrate the teachings, values, and rich cultural history passed down from our Ancestors.

This exhibition explains the importance of walking through our eyes. Walk with us as we share our stories, art, and traditional technologies.

Walking is an expression of miyupimaatisiiwin  (living life well). It encourages healthy living and interconnectedness with the land that sustains us. We walk to undertake journeys and as part of ceremonies. As we walk, we live the teachings that our Elders continue to pass on from generation to generation.
